Show me your technique...

Hello! You should have arrived from Nancy's Blog, but if you didn't, head HERE to start at the beginning. Today I'll be sharing stamping, masking, and paper piecing. :) Here we go...
I started with white cardstock cut to 4.25 x 4.25. I cut some Post-It Craft paper to the same size to create my mask. { Post-It Craft paper is sticky all over with the same stick as a regular Post-It note so it won't rip your paper when you remove it } I just happen to have tons of it on hand, so it's what I use the most. You can also use this stamp masking paper OR you can use repositionable adhesive on the back of regular paper. But if you go the adhesive route, just be sure to hold it very still or you'll get ink under the mask...and that won't look nice. :) ANYHOO I used the XL Label die to create my shape. I saved the positive piece to use on another project.
I used the cloud dies from the Fly Away With Me set to make masks with the same paper. Inking over them will leave us with pretty white clouds.
and after inking over them...
and here comes some masking magic! Remove the masks...
BAM! White clouds! :) Then I used this marker to trace the outline for a defined edge. And then I removed the mask {we're done with it now}
And here is the pretty sky we've made so far. And you're going to think this next picture is crazy, but it'll all turn out fine...I promise! ;)
I stamped the hot air balloon from the Fly Away With Me stamp set. I know it looks weird, but it'll be great after it gets paper pieced.
I stamped the hot air balloon a few more times on to kraft and patterned papers from the Soda Fountain collection from Echo Park. Then I cut out the bits I wanted and paper pieced the balloon back together. TIP after you've cut out your pieces, use the side of a brush tip marker to add black to the edges of the paper. This makes everything look uniform. And here's the reveal...
Tada!!! I just love how it turned out! :) To finish it off, I added the sentiment from the Just Simply Live set.
I hope you've enjoyed my lil' tutorial. :)

Your next stop is the fabulous ROSY
