My Hero

Hello! Here is my layout that I made for my second to last day on the Everyday Cricut Blog. :( It is super simple and will be going in my hubby's Navy album. As soon as I get the pics back, it will be of his advancement to First Class Petty Officer. ;) The "my Hero" and the pointy stars are from the Stand and Salute cricut cartridge. The rounder stars are from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. And the sweet faces on the stars are from the Boy Mates set from PeachyKeenStamp.com.

See you tomorrow with LOTS more stuff!!!

PeachyKeen Challenge 53

Hiya! It's challenge time again! This time we have the above sketch to follow BUT there's also a twist. You must use some sort of "sponging" technique. For my card I used my distress inks in Worn Lipstick and Shabby Shutters. I applied them with a foam inksentials applicator and then misted with water to get a "smoother" effect.
I used the Perfectly Pretty Grid background stamp from MarketStreetStamps.com that I white heat embossed. The adorable butterfly is from the Faceless Bugs set from PeachyKeenStamps.com.
Okie dokie...hop over to the Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the ladies made!!! I can't wait to see what YOU make!!!! ;o)

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day! I made this card for my hubby using the Playtime cartridge that sweet Emma got me for my birthday!!! We found out last week that he advanced and is now a First Class Petty Officer in the United States Navy!!! WOOT!!!! It was GREAT to finally get some good news for a change! ;o)
The girl's face is from the Wide Eyed Kids assortment and the kitty {my Simba} is from the Critter Faces Small set...both from PeachyKeenStamps.com. The sentiment is from Emma's graduation set {see, super versatile} called Follow Your Dreams.

Throwback Thursday...

Hello! My stamps from Emma arrived this afternoon so I'm late for Throwback Thursday today. The challenge this time is to use any older cartridge of your choice BUT you must include the colors green and yellow.  I admit that I have totally lost my mojo for the time being...and this is as good as it gets for today! HA, oh well. Anyhoo...The sailboat is from the Pooh and Friends cartridge. LOTS of hidden goodies on that cartridge! I made my background paper with distress inks and water in a mini mister to blend them all together.
The AWESOME sentiment is from Emma's new set called Happy Homecoming...I LOVE IT!!! :o)

Ok...pop over to Emma's BLOG to see what she and the other designers made!

Where have I been???

Hello my sweet blogging friends! You might have been wondering why I haven't posted in such a long time....On May 2nd we drove out to Arizona to spend my Daddy's final days with him. He passed away on May 11th surrounded by loving family and friends. I was blessed to have had the most wonderful Daddy any girl could have ever asked for. Sometimes I could almost feel his love for me radiating out of him! And I'm sure he felt the same from me. No daughter EVER loved her Daddy more than I loved mine. I think I am still in shock, and the tears come in waves out of the blue. I will miss him forever.

My Daddy took care of all of his "final" arrangements, including his obituary...which pretty much speaks to what an AWESOME guy he was...If you want to read it {and see my HANDSOME Daddy} click HERE to do so. Here are some of my favorite pages of him and baby me...

Here is my Daddy and I cuttin' a rug on my 16th birthday
